In February 2009 Austria's most modern processing facility for refrigerators and freezers was put into operation.
The completion of the joint venture project with UFH Holding represents another important milestone in the development of the European activities of REMONDIS Electrorecycling GmbH. UFH Holding (headquartered in Vienna) has a 51% share in the newly founded UFH RE-cycling GmbH and REMONDIS Electrorecycling GmbH (headquartered in Lünen) has a 49% share.
Use of the latest technology in the facilities makes it possible for UFH RE-cycling GmbH to process refrigerators and freezers in an exceptionally environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner. With a processing capacity of about 300,000 refrigerators and freezers a year, more than 40 kilograms of CFC and other cooling liquids and propellants can be recovered and be supplied to a professional disposal every day.
